We have now performed this Requiem twice: in Beverley Minster (July 2017) and in St. Alban’s Church, Hull (October 2019). It is not as well-known as the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré, but is similar in style, and deserves to be more widely performed.
We used the published orchestration for strings, trumpets and harp, adding additional parts for wind, brass and percussion.
Luca Myers was our baritone soloist, in both performances. At the Beverley Minster performance, Rachel Bamforth was the mezzo soprano soloist; at Hull, in 2019, it was Elizabeth Mathieson.
